Job summary

Allegheny Bradford Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Designer to turn concepts into ready-to-manufacture designs for pressure vessels and process equipment. You will create 3D models and detailed 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD while collaborating with Engineering, Production, Sales, and Purchasing.

The role requires a degree in Mechanical Drafting or related field, plus hands-on CAD experience and a focus on quality, accuracy, and problem solving in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical Drafting, Mechanical Design, or a related field.
• Experience with 3D modeling using parametric CAD software.

• An interest in mechanical design, manufacturing, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Bring Designs to Life: Create 3D models and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
• Turn Concepts Into Solutions: Review project specifications, design requirements, and P&ID drawings to develop accurate, functional designs.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work with Engineering, Production, Sales, Estimating, Purchasing, and Quality to solve problems and keep projects moving forward.
• Ensure Quality and Accuracy: Create and validate bills of materials (BOMs), review drawings, and verify designs for completeness and accuracy.
• Support Custom Equipment Design: Help develop and refine mechanical designs for pressure vessels and other process equipment to meet customer and engineering requirements.
• Apply Engineering Standards: Use applicable design codes and industry standards, including ASME Section VIII and ASME BPE, to support safe, compliant designs.
• Improve Design Solutions: Evaluate design requirements, recommend product modifications, and help resolve technical challenges from initial concept through final design.
• Work With Customers: Participate in design reviews and help ensure the finished design aligns with customer expectations.
• Support Manufacturing Success: Assist with component selection, design estimates, reassembly plans, and other projects that help keep operations running smoothly.
