Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Designer in Orlando, FL to design mechanical systems for cameras, transporters, lifts, and related devices. You will create detailed SolidWorks models and drawings with GD&T, support documentation for production release, and collaborate across engineering teams to ensure manufacturability.

The role emphasizes DFM/DFA, cross-functional teamwork, and ongoing design updates for R&D and sustaining engineering efforts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mechanical design experience.
• Experience in robotics, automation, AGVs, drones, or cameras.
• Proficient in SolidWorks for models, drawings, and assemblies with GD&T.
• Knowledge of GD&T and producing engineering documentation with tolerancing.
• Experience with machining, sheet metal forming, and casting processes.
• Ability to work within structured processes and cross-functional teams.
• Experience with design for manufacturing and design for assembly (DFM/DFA).
• Ability to access and update MRP/ERP and manage BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems for cameras, transporters, lifts, and other devices.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models and drawings with GD&T for manufacturing.
• Prepare documentation packages for production release.
• Support DFM and DFA with suppliers to optimize cost, reliability, and quality.
• Contribute to R&D, NPD, and sustaining engineering with design updates.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and meet milestones.
• Track tasks and provide status updates to stakeholders.
• Validate drawings for quality and manufacturability per internal standards.
• Process ECNs and ECRs to manage design revisions.
• Update MRP/ERP data and part-number structures.
