Job summary

CBES is seeking a Refrigeration Designer in the Burlington, MA area to support the design of commercial and industrial refrigeration systems. You will develop layouts, piping drawings, and construction documents for supermarket and cold storage projects, collaborating with engineers and field teams.

The role requires 3+ years of drafting/design experience in the AEC industry with refrigeration focus, proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit, and the ability to read complex drawings and specifications.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical equivalent in mechanical drafting or related field.
• 3+ years of mechanical drafting/design experience in the AEC industry, refrigeration strongly preferred.
• Experience preparing HVAC and refrigeration construction documents.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and refrigeration schematics.

Responsibilities

• Develop refrigeration piping and equipment layouts using AutoCAD.
• Prepare construction drawings, as-built drawings, and design documents.
• Assist with refrigeration equipment selection and system configuration.
• Perform basic refrigeration load calculations and pipe sizing.
• Coordinate designs with electrical, HVAC, architectural, and construction teams.
• Review equipment submittals and manufacturer specifications.
• Support field installation teams with design clarifications and revisions.
• Maintain drawing standards and document control procedures.
• Participate in project meetings and design reviews.

POSITION SUMMARYThe Refrigeration Designer supports the design and development of commercial and industrial refrigeration systems. This role is responsible for preparing system layouts, piping drawings, equipment selections, and construction documents for supermarket, cold storage, and commercial refrigeration projects.
