Job summary

Carrier is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join their team in Indiana, Pennsylvania. This role involves creating and developing design concepts for HVAC products, collaborating closely with project designers, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of mechanical design experience and proficiency in solid modeling. About this role

In this role you will be working in a team environment with minimal direction interacting with project designers. You will create and develop design concepts and final design solutions for HVAC products complying with industry standard engineering documentation practices. Creative contributions are necessary when partnering with Product Development Engineers to improve the design of current and future products.

Key Responsibilities

The candidate will have responsibility for the following in addition to ad hoc assignments as needed.

  • Creation and oversight of project plans for Design Services activities for which Designer is responsible.
  • Creation and development of design concepts and final design solutions for HVAC products using PTC Creo Parametric.
  • Application of GD&T to new product designs conforming to ASME Y14.5 (2009 or later).
  • Provide tolerance stack-up analysis on product designs.
  • Delegate and oversee the creation of engineering documentation for new product releases (drawings, bills of material, and specifications).
  • Adhere to industry and corporate design standards.
  • Interact as necessary with model makers, manufacturing engineers and outside suppliers / tool makers to provide required models and documentation for their respective activities.
  • Comply with International Trade Compliance requirements.
  • Support pre-production build activities conducted at other manufacturing facilities, as required.
  • May perform early design analysis (FEA, etc.) of components as needed.
  • May require periodic communication with team members in India during non-standard work hours.
Basic Requirements
  • AS degree in a mechanical technology or engineering field
  • 5+ years of mechanical design experience
  • 5+ years of experience with industry standard documentation practices is required.
  • 3+ years of experience in solid modeling is required.
Preferred Qualifications

Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:

  • BS degree in related technology field of study from an accredited university
  • Understanding and experience with industry standard documentation practices is required.
  • 2 years of experience with PTC Creo Elements is preferred. Experience in any or all of the following modules will be beneficial: part, sheet metal, tubing, assembly and drawing.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
  • Experience in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing is beneficial.
  • An understanding of Finite Element Analysis is beneficial.
