Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a spaceflight-focused designer to develop spacecraft avionics harness designs and CAD data for the Transfer Stage within the Lunar Permanence unit. You will collaborate with engineers to create, maintain, and release CAD data in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

The role requires 4+ years in aerospace, proficiency with Creo Parametric and Windchill, and strong communication and detail-orientation to meet strict specifications.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in aerospace development or similar industry.
  • Proficiency in drawing generation and release processes using Creo Parametric and Windchill.
  • Knowledge of standard avionics components and harness routing in Creo.
  • Knowledge of avionics brackets and secondary support structures.
  • Experience managing large CAD assemblies and BOMs.
  • Experience in cross-functional teams selecting materials and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare design layouts, create detail part, assembly, and installation models, and release data sets using CAD/PLM tools.
  • Route harnessing in the vehicle model and ensure alignment with specifications.
  • Interface with subsystem teams to coordinate design integration and data release.
  • Review engineering drawings to meet established standards.
  • Apply standard engineering methods to balance cost, schedule, and performance.

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. We are looking for a designer to support the development of spacecraft avionics and harness designs. The designer will work directly with engineers to create, maintain, and release CAD data. The position will work directly on the Transfer Stage vehicle within the Lunar Permanence Business Unit. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing design layouts, creating detail part, assembly, and installation models, and releasing data sets using CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools.
  • Applying relevant company (design, drafting, parts) techniques to plan, layout, and maintain data depicting engineering designs (detail, assembly and installation drawings or MBDs).
  • Interface with other vehicle subsystem teams to route harnessing in the vehicle model.
  • Reviewing engineering drawing and designs to ensure alignment to established specifications and standards.
  • Implementing engineering and manufacturing standard methodologies to achieve a balanced approach to cost, schedule and performance requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in aerospace development or similar industry.
  • Proficiency in drawing generation and release processes using Creo Parametric and Windchill.
  • Knowledge of standard avionics components and harness routing in Creo.
  • Knowledge of avionics brackets and secondary support structures.
  • Experience managing large CAD assemblies and BOMs.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional team responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and developing design to produce world-class engineered products.
  • Excellent attention to detail and task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
  • 7+ years proven experience.
  • Experience with Zuken
  • Proficiency in standard fits, tolerance stacks, and GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5).
  • Experience with tube and pipe routing in Creo.
  • Knowledge of standard installation and fabrication methods of fluid systems (tube stock, fittings, connections, fasteners, welding, etc.).

Base Pay Range for: CA applicants is $39.34 - $55.07 CO applicants is $36.06 - $50.48 WA applicants is $39.34 - $55.07 Other site ranges may differ
