Mechanical Designer – HVAC / MEP
Commercial Building Design | Revit & AutoCAD
An established engineering team is seeking an early-career Mechanical Designer to support commercial HVAC and MEP building design projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering graduate with approximately 1–4 years of experience to contribute to HVAC layouts, mechanical equipment coordination, BIM modeling, and construction-document development.
Candidates with relevant internship or co‑op experience in HVAC design, MEP consulting, or building systems design are also encouraged to apply. Applicants must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
Responsibilities
- Develop and update HVAC mechanical plans, ductwork layouts, and mechanical equipment layouts using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Prepare and revise construction documents, mechanical drawings, equipment layouts, annotations, and details.
- Assist with ductwork routing, equipment placement, and clearance coordination within commercial buildings.
- Coordinate HVAC layouts with architectural backgrounds and electrical, plumbing, and other building systems.
- Participate in BIM model reviews to identify potential conflicts and support design coordination.
- Incorporate engineering markups, design revisions, and project updates into drawings and Revit models.
- Review equipment submittals, dimensions, and installation clearances to support accurate mechanical layouts.
- Assist senior engineers with drawing reviews, quality checks, and construction-document preparation.
- Maintain organized project files, drawing revisions, and design documentation while meeting project deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Approximately 1–4 years of experience in HVAC design, mechanical design, or MEP building design; relevant internship or co‑op experience will be considered.
- Working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with commercial HVAC systems, MEP design, ductwork layouts, mechanical equipment layouts, and construction documents.
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings, incorporate engineering markups, and assist with multidisciplinary coordination.
- Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and a willingness to learn from experienced engineering professionals.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience with an MEP consulting firm or building systems design team.
- Exposure to BIM coordination, HVAC equipment submittals, mechanical specifications, and drawing revisions.
- Familiarity with commercial building design standards and construction-document workflows.
