Job summary

Actalent is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to create and modify complex 3D CAD models and assemblies at our Michigan City, IN site. You will design components and test equipment with emphasis on safety, manufacturability, and durability, and you will produce drawings, BOMs, and documentation for release of new parts and changes.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in mechanical engineering or related technical discipline is required.
• 0-5+ years of mechanical product design/drafting experience in manufacturing is required.
• Proficiency with 3D design software (SolidWorks, Inventor, NX, Pro/E, etc.) is expected.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify complex 3D CAD models, components, and mechanical assemblies.
• Design mechanical components, systems, and test equipment with emphasis on safety, maintainability, manufacturability, and durability.
• Develop assemblies within top-level designs using appropriate constraints and configurations.
• Create and revise engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
• Prepare engineering documentation to release new parts, assemblies, BOMs, and design changes.
• Perform engineering analysis on mechanical components and subsystems, including support for FEA and CFD model development.
• Create and maintain product data and BOM information within PLM/ERP systems.
• Interpret and develop P&IDs and other technical drawings.
• Support multiple engineering projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Assist with development and continuous improvement of engineering standards, processes, and design practices.
• Provide technical support to internal cross-functional teams.
• Assist with mentoring and technical guidance for less-experienced team members.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Michigan City, IN.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
