Job summary

ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions is seeking a Designer to join the Mortise Lock Engineering Team. The role focuses on CAD modelling, drawing creation, PDM coordination, and ECR processing at our Berlin, CT site.

You will report to the Mechanical Team Lead for the Electro-Mechanical Access Control platform. The ideal candidate has an Associate’s degree in engineering and 3+ years of design experience in manufacturing, with SolidWorks, Teamcenter, and JDE ERP/MRP exposure.

Qualifications

• Product design using 3D modeling and 2D drawing development.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop 3D concepts and 2D layouts.
• Process Engineering Change Notices (ENs) and release drawings.
• Create part, sub-assembly and assembly drawings using standardized formats.
• Maintain engineering documentation and electronic systems (PDM/PLM).
• Assist Purchasing with documentation requests for vendors.
• Stay current with engineering software and recommend upgrades.

Responsibilities

• Lead design tasks and CAD modelling for housing systems.
• Coordinate with engineers on model concepts and layouts.
• Prepare and release engineering drawings and BOM structures.
• Ensure documentation and PDM/PLM data integrity.
• Assist in product testing and validation.
