About your role

The Mechanical Designer is responsible for creating 3D models based on 3D scans, existing plant drawings, P&ID drawings, equipment flow diagrams and vendor drawings. Modeling will include new equipment, existing equipment, chutes, ducts, piping, existing steel and supporting steel. They coordinate with various disciplines to ensure accurate and comprehensive designs. Additionally, they prepare general arrangement drawings, mechanical design drawings, and demolition drawings, ensuring all output reflects the engineered design accurately.

Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities
3D Modeling
  • Utilize 3D scans, existing plant drawings, P&ID’s and EFD’s.
  • Create 3D Models from vendor drawings.
  • Create 3D models of plant layouts, chutes, ducts, piping and structural steel.
  • Coordinate with all disciplines to create an accurate and complete model.
Drawings
  • Prepare 2D and 3D conceptual drawings to review with customers.
  • Create general arrangement drawings from a 3D model.
  • Create mechanical design drawings from a 3D model.
  • Prepare drawings for bid, approval and construction.
  • Drawings must contain all necessary and accurate information required for bidding, fabrication and erection.

Assist with other duties as assigned.

Company Hours

This position works from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Hours vary and are dependent on business needs.

40-Hour Work Week

Monday through Friday, Hours may vary with the workload.

Evenings/Weekends/OT

As needed to satisfy the requirements of the position.

QualificationsEducation
  • Associates Degree in related field required.

Type of Experience Needed to be Successful

Supervisory Expectations

This job does not have direct supervisory responsibilities, however, this position leads, trains, and advises the manager.

Independence of Action

This position sets own goals and determines how to accomplish results with little or no guidance to follow, although precedents may exist, the supervisor provides broad guidance and overall direction.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The work environment is the typical office environment.
