Job summary

MSI is seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical CAD Drafter to prepare detailed drawings of parts and assemblies using SolidWorks, with some AutoCAD work, for manufacturing custom machinery. You'll create multi-view drawings, maintain files, and collaborate with engineers, designers, and shop personnel to ensure drawing accuracy and timely delivery in a hands-on environment.

Recent graduates welcome; associate degree in mechanical design preferred; equivalent experience considered; strong

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Mechanical Design or related field preferred; equivalent education and/or experience will be considered.
• Experience creating or modifying technical drawings from written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and redline changes.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks is preferred.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and other design software.
• Basic understanding of mechanical design, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to learn new information, ask questions, and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and release detail and assembly drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Create and revise drawings based on engineering changes, redlines, and customer specifications.
• Convert AutoCAD drawings into SolidWorks models and drawings.
• Prepare detailed multi-view drawings and drawing packages for production.
• Maintain and update drawing files.
• Review and self-check drawings for accuracy, completeness, dimensions, fits, and stack-ups.
• Work closely with Designers, Project Managers, Engineers, and shop employees to clarify drawing requirements.
• Follow established drawing standards and department procedures.
• Manage changing priorities and complete assigned work within required timeframes.

Position Summary:

Prepare detailed drawings of parts, weldments, and assemblies using SolidWorks according to MSI’s engineering and manufacturing standards. Create and upload Bills of Materials into our ERP software.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Mechanical Design, CAD, or related technical program graduate to gain hands-on experience creating drawings used in the manufacturing of custom machinery. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and interested in developing their skills in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
