Job summary

X-energy LLC seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to design, analyze, and develop in-core shielding elements and reactor internals for X-energy's high-temperature gas-cooled reactor. You’ll support from concept through detailed design, with emphasis on nuclear safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

The role involves performing structural, thermal, and hydraulic analyses, developing CAD models, and validating designs in collaboration with systems engineers and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
• Master’s degree may substitute two years of experience; PhD may substitute three years.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical concepts and SSCs for nuclear products with focus on nuclear safety.
• Perform analysis and sizing calculations to ensure SSCs meet requirements.
• Create and maintain CAD models of reactor SSCs.
• Support manufacturability, assembly, and integration considerations.
