Job summary

The Toro Company, based in Bloomington, MN, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design, develop, test, and document mechanical systems and components. You will contribute to projects from concept through production, delivering innovative, reliable, and manufacturable solutions that meet customer needs and business objectives.

You will work with cross-functional teams, apply DFMA principles, and support prototype builds, testing, and validation in an in-office setting with access to labs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 0-2 years = Engineer I; 2-4 years = Engineer II; 4-7 years = Engineer III.
• Experience using 3D CAD software for product design and engineering documentation.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop component and system-level designs for product enhancements and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs and related documentation.
• Perform engineering analysis, feasibility studies, prototype evaluations, and design validation activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, cost, durability, safety and manufacturability requirements.
• Work with Product Development Lab to create prototype components and assemblies.
• Support prototype builds, testing, and diagnostics; document findings and implement improvements.
• Research materials and manufacturing processes to enhance product performance and value.
• Assist in resolving product quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
