Job summary

Astec in Waite Park, MN is seeking an engineer to execute projects involving original design creation and evaluation under general supervision. You will participate in analysis of design concepts and adapt established research techniques to deliver robust engineering solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related field.
• At least 2 years of engineering experience.
• Ability to lead teams and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Create accurate project specifications.
• Ensure all engineering documents are up to date.
• Develop standard work templates and revision control processes.
• Assist in design, development, implementation and analysis of technical products and systems.
• Drives continuous improvement by managing projects and techniques to enhance robustness.
• Initiate and execute the Product Design and Development process.
• Participate in product design meetings including specifications, material selection, 3D CAD models, and drawings.
• Collaborate in cross-functional project teams from concept to production.
• Conduct design for manufacture assessments to support lean manufacturing and cost targets.
• Develop design concepts to meet cost objectives and interface with vendors to approve components.
• Administer design history and document control processes.
• Identify commonalities to aid manufacturing standardization.
• Prepare and present findings from design analyses.
• Respond to root-cause analysis and corrective actions related to design issues.
• Assist peers with workloads to meet project deadlines.
• Promote a safe and healthy work environment.
• Adhere to company policies including safety guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness following 6S principles.
