Job summary

Global CNC Industries, LTD. in Michigan seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to design toolholders, update product lines, and streamline engineering operations for precision CNC lathe tooling.

You will develop 3-D models and assemblies, perform tolerance stack‑up analyses, and apply gear/transmission design principles to driven tooling. You’ll collaborate with production, programming, and vendors to ensure manufacturability, quality, and consistency across families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in mechanical design, preferably CNC tooling or precision manufacturing.
• Experience with gear and transmission design is a strong plus, including torque/speed calculations.
• Proficiency in 3-D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred) and GD&T knowledge.
• Familiarity with ERP/PLM systems for BOM and drawing management is a plus.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to execute design implementations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborative work.

Responsibilities

• Design new toolholders and tooling systems from concept through production.
• Review and update legacy designs to reduce cost and standardize across families.
• Apply gear and transmission design principles to live tooling systems for optimal performance.
• Collaborate with production and programming teams to ensure manufacturability.
• Perform tolerance stack‑up analysis, GD&T, and fit/function calculations.
• Develop prototypes, coordinate first article inspection, and support testing.
• Maintain accurate BOMs, drawings, and engineering changes in ERP/PLM.
• Work with manufacturing engineers and vendors to translate designs into production.
