Job summary

newcleo is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design mechanical systems and equipment for a next-generation MOX fuel fabrication facility in the United States. The role focuses on gloveboxes, custom process equipment, and assemblies while ensuring performance, safety, and regulatory compliance.

The engineer will collaborate with Process, Nuclear Safety, Electrical & Instrumentation, HVAC, Civil, and Systems teams through the design lifecycle within an international engineering environment,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably with complex industrial equipment.
• Experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent tools.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and equipment integration.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical systems and specialized equipment for nuclear fuel fabrication applications, including gloveboxes, custom machinery, and assemblies.
• Develop 3D models, equipment layouts, manufacturing drawings, and detailed documentation using CAD tools.
• Define mechanical design requirements and ensure compliance with functional, operational, maintainability, and nuclear safety requirements.
• Perform mechanical design analyses including FMEA, machine safety assessments, and maintainability evaluations.
• Coordinate technical interfaces with Process, Nuclear Safety, Electrical & Instrumentation, HVAC, Civil, and Systems Engineering.
