Job summary

ENERCON Services, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Nuclear Design Group in a range of seniority levels. You will work on power plant modifications, design calculations, and field walkdowns across multiple sites with opportunities to lead projects and mentor others.

The role emphasizes collaboration across disciplines, compliance with codes, and delivering high-quality engineering documentation. Travel to plant sites is expected as part of project work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience designing mechanical systems.
  • Experience in power generation, nuclear power or government DOE projects.
  • Strong writing, presentation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate drawings, sketches, calculations, and analyses meeting codes and client needs.
  • Develop engineering documents aligned with client, ENERCON, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry codes, standards, and safety practices in nuclear sector.
  • Produce deliverables that meet QA standards and project scopes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients through clear communication.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to ensure integrated designs.
  • Travel to plant sites for on-site walkdowns and project work.

Responsibilities

In this role, you'll support a variety of projects ranging from major power plant modifications to smaller design initiatives. One day, you may be working as part of a multi-discipline engineering team on cooling water systems, including pumps, motors, control systems, piping, and heat exchangers for existing or new power plants. Another day, you may be leading a valve replacement project, evaluating equipment options, or preparing technical reports such as corrosion studies or evaluations of equipment options.

  • Deliver High-Quality Engineering Documents: Prepare accurate and error-free drawings, sketches, calculations, and analyses that meet industry codes, standards, and regulations, ensuring client needs are met with precision
  • Adhere to Standards: Develop engineering documents in alignment with client, ENERCON, and regulatory requirements while following established procedures, processes, and project directives
  • Stay Ahead of the Curve: Keep your knowledge sharp and current with industry codes, standards, safety culture principles, and advanced design techniques tailored to the nuclear sector
  • Commit to Excellence: Produce engineering deliverables that meet stringent quality assurance standards, aligning with project scopes and exceeding client expectations
  • Build Lasting Client Relationships: Establish trust and rapport with clients through clear communication, professional interactions, and the delivery of exceptional engineering solutions
  • Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with other teams to ensure designs are comprehensive, integrated, and consider the needs of all disciplines involved
  • Be Hands-On in the Field: Travel to plant sites to connect with client personnel, conduct on-site walkdowns, and evaluate plant structures, systems, and components firsthand to inform project work
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with design of mechanical systems
  • Must have experience in power generation, nuclear power or government (DOE) projects directly or with an engineering/design consulting firm
  • Good writing , presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to be an individual contributor and work effectively in teams
  • Proficient in Word and Excel
  • Due to Federal Contract Requirements, US Citizenship is required
