Job summary

DEKA Research and Development, based in Manchester, NH, is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to help develop innovative medical devices from concept through prototyping, testing and documentation. You will manage multiple sub-assembly designs with a reasonable level of guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
• 2+ years' design experience for manufacturability in high precision/high volume environment.
• Experience with electro-mechanical devices with embedded software preferred.
• Familiarity with plastics and metals processing (injection molding, die casting, MIM).
• Strong organizational, detail-oriented, and multi-tasking abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication for a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Generate creative design solutions considering risk, reliability, serviceability, weight and cost.
• Transition concepts into products using 3D CAD solid modeling and document the development process.
• Troubleshoot design failure modes and develop quick, effective solutions.
• Coordinate with electrical, software, industrial design, and controls teams.
• Evaluate designs through prototype testing and verification.
• Technical review and approval for all mechanical components and assemblies, analysis and testing.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and model strong mechanical engineering practices.
