Job summary

Align Production Systems in Decatur, IL is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer II to own the design and release of custom material handling equipment from concept through manufacturing handoff. The role emphasizes hydraulic system design and serving as the primary on-site engineering presence on the Decatur floor.

Candidates will hold a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, have experience with engineer-to-order environments, proficiency in SolidWorks, and a track record of engineering releases

Qualifications

• Design engineering experience in an engineer-to-order or custom manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated hydraulic system design experience: circuit design, component selection, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with engineering release processes — drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing-ready documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design Engineering & Release: mechanical design on ETO projects through release to manufacturing; create 3D models, fabrication and assembly drawings, BOMs; manage release process and handoff.
• Hydraulic System Design: design hydraulic circuits, select components, develop schematics, specify valves, cylinders, pumps, manifolds, hoses.
• On-Site Manufacturing Support: serve as primary on-site engineering presence on the Decatur floor; resolve questions and host factory acceptance tests.
