Job summary

Bel Fuse Inc. in Texas is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer (Automation) to design and implement automated systems for manufacturing, collaborating with leadership to map roadmaps that support our business objectives.

You will lead cross‑functional discussions, drive improvements to automation in assembly and inspection, manage equipment purchases, develop BOMs, and perform end‑to‑end testing from concept to implementation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering required.
  • 10+ years hands-on experience in designing automation machinery.
  • Experience with 3D modeling tools: Creo, Inventor or SolidWorks.
  • Familiarity with PLC hardware selection and programming.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Bilingual English and Spanish.
  • Willing to travel internationally, including Mexico.

The Mechanical Design Engineer (Automation)

willcreate automated systems for use in a production and manufacturing environment. You will collaborate with departmental and corporate leadership to determine existing automation capabilities and future opportunities, creating detailed project road maps for automation projects that support our business objectives.

Are You Looking To:
  • Design and implement automated systems for use in diverse manufacturing and production environments.
  • Develop and implement improvements to existing automation in mechanical assembly, machining and inspection processes.
  • Develop and implement maintenance programs for equipment.
  • Manage equipment purchase and installation.
  • Prepare manufacturing documentation.
  • Lead collaborative discussions between local management and upper management to determine automation capabilities and goals.
  • Create detailed road maps to guide automation projects from conception to final implementation.
  • Support existing automation technology with component and process upgrades.
  • Equipment Bill of Materials.
  • Schematics and Wiring Diagrams.
  • End-to-end functional testing of all points to local devices, HMI, control room, and other data off-taker facilities.
  • Assists with project planning, scheduling, and coordination for all size projects.
  • Provides technical leadership.
  • Works with other project team members and produces project deliverables as required.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving communications issues.
  • Programming of all devices.
  • Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments.

The development of this position it is not limited to the accomplishments of the activities written in the essential duties and responsibilities, some activities not mentioned could be assigned by their immediately supervisor according with their ability, preparation, and experience.

What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 year of hands-on experience in designing automation assembly machineries.
  • 3D Modeling – Creo, or Inventor or Solidworks
  • Familiarity with PLC hardware selection and programming.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and other computer software.
  • Possesses effective written and oral communications skills.
  • Experience selecting and integrating automation hardware including pneumatics, electric actuators/servos, sensors, and basic guarding/safety components.
  • Working knowledge of machine design elements: linear motion components, bearings, cams, springs, gearboxes, couplings, and fastener best practices.
  • Experience designing precision tooling and fixturing (nests, locators, clamps, press tools, insertion guides, crimp applicator interfaces, changeover tooling).
  • Strong ability with software testing and validation.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working with international sites and international vendors
  • Willing to travel including international locations - Mexico

Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
