Job summary

United Launch Alliance (ULA) is hiring an mechanical/structural engineer to create models and release drawings for fabrication, optimized for manufacturability and use. You will collaborate with subcontract administration and manufacturers through fabrication, test and acceptance, and support first use of hardware for proper installation.

The role requires periodic travel to other ULA sites and involves performing preliminary strength calculations before final review by the Strength team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
  • Proficient with CAD software, preferably NX.
  • Proficient in drawing standards and experience with GD&T.
  • Experienced contributor that can work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work experience on projects with integration between engineering disciplines.
  • Able to work independently to develop engineering solutions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Experience collaborating with manufacturing to turn designs into hardware.
  • Must be available for periodic travel to other ULA sites; valid driver's license.

Job Overview & Responsibilities

Minimum of 4 years of related work experience


Basic Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university

  • Proficient withCAD software, preferably NX

  • Proficient in drawing standards and experience with GD&T

  • Experienced contributor that can work in a fast-paced environment

  • Work experience on projects in which integration between different engineering disciplines occurred (e.g. structural, electrical, test, analysis)

  • Able to work independently to determine and develop solutions to a variety of engineering problems

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team

  • Experience collaborating with manufacturing to turn designs into hardware

  • Must be available for periodic travel to the other ULA sites or vendors. Must possess a valid driver's license to drive between work locations on a military base where public transportation is not available


Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university

  • Experience with Mechanical ground systems and s trength analysis

  • Experience with welded steel and aluminum structures

  • Familiarity with machine shop practices

  • Teamcenter, MS vOffice, and MS Project experience
