Job summary

MacLean Power Systems in Stockton, CA seeks an engineer to design, model, test prototypes, and evaluate specifications to create robust products and components.

You will use CAD to translate concepts into production-ready designs, prepare design briefs, and collaborate across teams to meet production, cost, and safety goals. This role requires a bachelor’s degree and 2–4 years of experience with strong planning and communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• 2–4 years of engineering experience.
• Experience with CAD tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs producible with existing facilities and methods.
• Designs, models and tests prototypes for products.
• Establishes design briefs and evaluates test results for potential developments.
• Creates concepts, performance and production criteria.
• Identifies and selects materials needed for production.
• Creates parts lists and lists costs involved in production.
• Uses CAD to design concepts and ensure production readiness.
• Completes all necessary documents accurately and adheres to 5S and Quality policies.

Job Summary

Using engineering techniques, helps to design, maintain, or improve new or existing products and/or components.

Job Duties

• Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods
• Design, model and test prototypes for products
• Establish design briefs
• Evaluates engineering test results for possible application to developments of systems or other uses
• Create concepts, performance and production criteria
• Identify and select materials needed for production
• Create parts lists
• List costs involved in production
• Make samples of working models for demonstration
• Plan marketing initiatives for product
• Negotiate appropriate production processes
• Improve usability of an item
• Use computer-aided design (CAD) to design concepts
• Complete all necessary documents fully and accurately
• Adhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area, etc.)
• Follow all Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

Experience and Education

• Performs work under general supervision
• Handle moderately complex issues and problems and refer more complex issues to higher-level staff
• Possess solid working knowledge of subject matter
• May provide leadership, coaching and/or mentoring to a subordinate group
• Typically require a bachelor's degree and 2 to 4 years of experience
