Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Palo Alto, CA|Onsite (5 days/week) with flexible remote options
Compensation & Schedule
• $95,000–$205,000/year
• Full-time, W2
• Relocation support available
• Immediate start preferred
Role Impact
Join a high-performance innovation team responsible for next-generation electro-mechanical systems that power vehicles, energy storage, and manufacturing technologies. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll own hardware from concept through mass production, directly shaping high-voltage safety components in a fast-paced R&D environment where ideas become reality at record speed.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, model, and test mechanical parts for high-voltage systems (plastics, sheet metal, insulation, etc.)
• Analyze thermal, kinematic, structural, and vibration performance
• Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate designs into energy, automotive, and industrial systems
• Resolve complex packaging issues including sealing, interconnection, and heat management
• Author engineering documentation, drawings, and manufacturing instructions
• Execute validation and reliability testing with clear, data-driven insights
Minimum Qualifications
• 4+ years experience in mechanical design OR demonstrated expertise in product development
• Must have:
– High-voltage component experience
– Kinematic modeling proficiency
– Strength of materials analysis
– Deep understanding of thermal management (critical)
– Solid grasp of electrical engineering fundamentals
– Manufacturing process knowledge (e.g., molding, die casting, assembly)
• Proficiency in CAD (CATIA V5/V6), tolerance analysis, FEA, and simulation tools (MATLAB, Python, Ansys)

Preferred Skills
• Experience with magnetic components and electric actuation
• Background in high-voltage hardware development
• Understanding of DFMEA/PFMEA, ISO 26262, and functional safety
