Product Design Engineer - Wearable Devices
Responsibilities
- Design mechanical components and assemblies for wearable consumer products
- Own designs from concept, CAD, prototyping, and testing through mass production
- Build and evaluate prototypes; iterate designs based on test results
- Perform design analysis using strong mechanical fundamentals
- Design for high-volume manufacturing with DFM/DFA and tolerance considerations
- Collaborate with industrial design, electrical engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers
- Support design reviews, failure analysis, and continuous product improvements
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 3-10 years of experience as a Product Design Engineer in consumer electronics
- Experience working on high-volume, mass-produced consumer products
- Background from companies shipping products at scale (e.g., Apple, Tesla, or similar)
- Strong experience in component design, prototyping, and testing
- Solid design analysis skills and strong core mechanical fundamentals
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience with wrist-worn wearable devices (smartwatches, fitness trackers)
- Experience with small form-factor, highly integrated consumer devices
- Exposure to durability, environmental, and reliability testing (drop, sweat, IP ratings)
