Job summary

Empire Abrasive Equipment Co. is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop and detail standard and custom large-scale industrial equipment.

You will create designs in Autodesk Inventor and ensure compliance with Engineering Department guidelines under supervision from Engineering leadership. The role emphasizes strong communication, problem solving, and organizational skills, with responsibilities spanning analysis, drawings, and vendor interfaces to support mechanical powertrain

Qualifications

  • Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Ability to analyze customer proposals and meet with PMs/engineers/clients.
  • Familiar with mechanical systems and pneumatics.

Responsibilities

  • Design and optimization of mechanical components for mechanical powertrain systems.
  • Design and detail fabricated weldments and machined components.
  • Develops manufacturing drawings per standards.
  • Interface with vendors for component selection, manufacturing, and assembly.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and reports.
  • Collaborate with system engineers to implement procedures and resolve issues.
  • Research customer proposals to evaluate feasibility, cost and maintenance.

Position Summary

Designs and details Standard and/or Custom large scale industrial equipment, utilizing acquired technical skills and acceptable design criteria, within projects as specified /assigned by the Engineering Manager, the Project Manager, or the Director of Engineering. All new designs and drawings to be created within Autodesk Inventor software, as compliant with Engineering Department's design Guidelines.

Position Summary

Position Responsibilities
  • Design and optimization of mechanical components for mechanical powertrain systems
  • Design and detail Fabricated Weldments and machined components
  • Components include frames, brackets, shafts, couplings, flanges, housing, clutches etc.
  • Analysis of mechanical systems, including Finite Element analysis for structural, fatigue, thermal, vibration, and acoustics
  • Analysis and specification of electro-mechanical and electro-hydraulic systems
  • Develops manufacturing drawings in accordance with applicable standards
  • Interfaces with outside vendors for component selection, manufacturing, and assembly
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
  • Confer with system engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications
