Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Construction Technical Services Lead for data center projects in Corpus Christi, TX. The role leads technical interpretation of drawings and specifications, coordinates with home office and external engineers, and guides on-site construction activities.

You will manage document control, coordinate with field teams, and mentor staff while navigating permitting and NCR resolutions in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience interpreting home office engineering documents for construction purposes.
  • 10+ years in mechanical engineering or 15–20 years in construction management for heavy-industrial facilities, incl. data centers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in resolving in-progress issues related to drawings and specifications; clarify and expedite responses to meet project needs.
  • Liaise with home office engineering, outside engineering firms, and client representatives.
  • Provide on-site technical support interpreting engineering documents, specs, and drawings; contribute to change management within technical scope.
  • Engage in the permitting process with AHJs.
  • Work with Design-Build contractors as they move to field.
  • Oversee document management and revision control of drawings and documents.
  • Lead and mentor the team toward project objectives.
  • Resolve NCRs with Field Quality, contractor, and Home Office Engineering.

As a Mechanical Construction Technical Services Specialist Lead, you will

  • Provide leadership and guidance in resolving in-progress issues, discrepancies, or disputes related to technical interpretation of drawings and specifications; clarifying and, when required, expediting home office/responsible engineer(s) response to meet project needs in a timely manner
  • Ensure liaising with home office engineering, outside engineering firms, and client representatives
  • Provide On-site technical support in interpretation of engineering released documents, specifications, and drawings, including input to the change management process within your technical expertise.
  • Engage in the Permitting process and with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs),
  • Work with Design-Build contractors once their efforts move to the field.
  • Effectively communicate with subcontractors leading to receipt and management of all key drawings and documents in a revision-controlled manner.
  • Lead the construction document management process,
  • providing oversight and guidance through a construction document control lead,
  • ensure effective communication with subcontractors leading to receipt and management of all key drawings and documents in a revision-controlled manner.
  • Act as technically competent lead in response to contractor or other party request for specification deviation in work or work product, working within the project approved spec deviation process.
  • Work with Field Quality, contractor, and Home Office Engineering to resolve Nonconformities (NCRs)
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to your team toward meeting these objectives.

Here’s what you’ll need
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working in Mechanical engineering or 15-20 years’ experience in construction management for heavy-industrial process facilities including life sciences and datacenters. Heavy emphasis in Mechanical engineering needed
  • An understanding of construction-oriented means, methods, codes, and standards
  • Experience interpreting home office engineering documents for construction purposes
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience, including certified technical training
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Ability to read and understand Mechanical engineering drawings
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
  • Construction field experience
