Job summary

Fronza & Francis is seeking a Mechanical Construction Manager to lead field construction activities for mechanical systems in Seattle. You will ensure on-time, on-budget project delivery while coordinating contractors, designers, and stakeholders to resolve field issues and ensure turnover with complete documentation.

The role requires extensive experience in HVAC, plumbing, piping, and controls installation, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and schedule adherence.

Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of relevant construction management experience with significant mechanical construction focus.
  • Experience coordinating mechanical contractors and field installation activities.
  • Degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze project schedules and proactively address potential impacts to mechanical construction activities. Review daily work plans and support monthly schedule updates based on field progress.
  • Manage risks and establish recovery plans when required. Resolve field conflicts and disputes with minimal need for escalation.
  • Review mechanical plans, specifications, contract requirements, applicable codes, and installation details to determine project requirements.
  • Oversee installation of HVAC, plumbing, piping, fire protection, controls, and related mechanical systems for compliance with contract documents and accepted installation practices.
  • Coordinate mechanical work with electrical, architectural, structural, civil, and other trades to identify and resolve clashes, access constraints, and sequencing issues.
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, change documentation, and field conditions; participate in constructability reviews and coordination meetings.
  • Work with safety personnel to ensure field activities meet project and regulatory safety requirements.
  • Support inspections, startup, testing, balancing, commissioning, punch-list completion, and turnover of mechanical systems.
  • Ensure timely completion of required project closeout documents, including record documentation, O&M information, warranties, and commissioning records as applicable.
  • During the Construction Phase, proactively manage quality, schedule, budget, safety, and document control while tracking and reporting project performance.

Job Description:

As a Mechanical Construction Manager, you will be responsible for managing field construction activities for mechanical systems and ensuring work is completed accurately, on time, within budget, and within the scope of the contract. You will oversee compliance with construction documents, applicable codes, safety standards, quality requirements, and project schedules. You will coordinate contractors, designers, and project stakeholders to resolve field issues, track progress, support testing and commissioning, and ensure successful project closeout.

Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:
  • Degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
  • 7-10 years of relevant construction management experience with significant mechanical construction experience.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating mechanical contractors and field installation activities
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree a plus.
  • Experience with HVAC, plumbing, piping, controls, fire protection, testing, and commissioning.
  • Proven ability to follow through with completion.
