Job summary

Overview

Job Summary

A Mechanical Assembly Technician 2 is responsible to interpret blueprint drawings, work instructions, and technical specifications for the fabrication or repair of complex structural production and aircraft products. They need to have a working knowledge of assembly techniques, tooling, and company procedures to perform critical structural operations.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Assembles Mechanical and Sheet Metal Products using engineering drawings and sketches for aircraft and ground vehicles
  • Review completed work and ensure that the final assemblies and details are protected from damage
  • Ensure that all assembly work meet quality standards.
  • Perform testing and functional checks of assembled products.
  • Review drawings, and parts lists for accuracy and coordinates with other departments to resolve issues.
  • Coordinate with repair station inspectors for final inspection and sign-off of completed tasks.
  • Tear-down, evaluate and repair of returned components.
  • Resolve assembly and documentation problems, report problems to the appropriate lead or supervisor for assistance and follows up with all non-compliance issues.
  • Assist in on the job training
  • Other Duties as assigned.

  • Regular scheduled attendance
  • Indicate the percentage of time spent traveling – up to 5%

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required
  • Three to ten years’ related experience (fabrication; aircraft sheet metal / structure repairs)
  • One year certificate from college or technical school preferred
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment
  • Experience in use of sheet metal related shop equipment

Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret blue print drawings
  • Ability to apply fundamental concepts and knowledge of assembly skills and their application.
  • Dependable and self-motivated
  • Ability to manage several projects concurrently
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge/experience

Equipment Used

  • Sheet metal shear, hand and power brake, roller, belt sander, band saw, milling machine, drill press, sheet metal related hand and air tools, calibrated gauges and tooling, computer with Dymo label printer, Laser marker machine, and ink stamps.
  • Employee must provide necessary hand tools to perform duties in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • FAA Airframe Mechanic Certificate preferred
