Mechanical Assembler or Operations Technician II

    Duration – 06-12 + months Contract position on W2

    Location – Hayward, CA


    POSITION MISSION:
    Intermediate level position requires understanding of the general and technical aspects of the job.

    Assignments are moderately complex, where judgment is required in solving problems and making recommendations.

    May be involved choosing from two or more pre-defined alternative courses of action. Works under general supervision, with some instruction given for routine work and detailed instructions for new types of work or special projects.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
    1. Assembles electronic, mechanical, fluidic, and optical subassemblies and components.
    2. Follows production drawings, written procedures, sample assemblies and verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
    3. Crimp, stakes, screws, bolts, solders, cements, press fits, or performs similar operations to join or secure parts in place, using hand tools, power tools, fixtures and equipment.
    4. Installs finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases and enclosures.
    5. Routes and connects wires and cables between individual assemblies and printed circuit boards.
    6. Performs inspection and assembly under microscope or other magnifying device.
    7. Performs functional test using measuring instruments and electronic test equipment, to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.
    8. Reads and assigns work orders, processes material transfers, and fills out production batch records to document assembly steps and maintain accurate inventory counts.
    9. Performs inventory transactions to support the flow of material from receiving, inspection and stock locations to the production floor, in a timely and accurate manner.
    10. This position is responsible for approving and releasing raw material to further processing such as Assembly or Test, or finished product to stock or otherwise made available to be sold and shipped to a customer.

    EDUCATION AND PRIOR EXPERIENCE:

    1. High school education or equivalent plus a minimum of 1-3 years of related experience.
    2. Self-motivated. Able to work independently, and as a team member.
    3. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    4. Good visual acuity and manual dexterity.
    5. Able to lift up to 25 to 35 pounds unassisted for short distances.
    6. Able to meet strict deadlines.
    7. Follows instructions.
    8. Follows policies and procedures.
    9. Reliable and dependable.
    10. Completes tasks correctly and on time.
    11. Looks for ways to improve and promote quality and speed cycle times.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

    1. Communication is key-must be understandable and clear, ability to follow a standard operating procedure, understanding blue prints.
    2. Manufacturing experience from a medical device or related industry
    3.Microscope experience, gluing under microscope, optics handing experience.
    4. Nice to have- Laser alignment using optics and test fixtures. 5. Ability to lift 20-50 pounds on their own.
    6. Able to use PC Windows based computer experience.
