Job summary

Marvin Engineering Co. in Inglewood, CA is seeking an assembler to join our manufacturing team. The role focuses on assembling, fitting, fastening, and installing mechanical/electromechanical subassemblies for military equipment, using basic hand tools and drilling/riveting equipment.

Candidates should have 1–2 years of mechanical assembly experience and a High School Diploma or GED. This 100% onsite position requires English proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to follow blueprints

  • Trade training or certification may be required; may need to pass a mechanical aptitude test.
  • Must be able to read basic documents.
  • Must be able to follow directions.
  • Basic computer navigation skills.
  • Must lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Must speak/read/write English.

Responsibilities

  • Align and fit sub and structural assemblies by installing and connecting parts, fittings, and assemblies.
  • Install fasteners such as bolts, screws, rivets, rivnuts, heicols, keenserts, and adhesives.
  • Use basic hand tools: screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, hammer, ratchets and sockets, ruler, calipers.
  • Set-up, operate, and maintain hand drilling and riveting equipment (Cherry & Huck).
  • Position and align subassemblies in jigs or fixtures using measuring instruments and blueprint lines.
  • Cut, trim, file, bend, and smooth parts; verify sizes and tolerances.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to determine layouts and sequences.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure standards are met.
  • Identify defects and follow non-conformance procedures.
  • Rework/repair parts per engineering specifications.
  • Maintain high quality and safety standards.
  • Keep a clean and safe work area.

SCOPE

Assemble, fit, fasten, and install parts to form subassemblies. Align, fit, assemble, fasten, connect, and install system components of military mechanical/electromechanical equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Align and fit sub and structural assemblies by installing and connecting parts, fittings, and assemblies
  • Install fasteners such as bolts, screws, rivets, rivnuts, helicoils, keenserts, and adhesives
  • Use basic hand tools, i.e., screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, hammer, ratchets & sockets, ruler, calipers
  • Set-up, operate, and maintain a variety of hand drilling and riveting equipment (Cherry & Huck)
  • Position and align subassemblies in jigs or fixtures, using measuring instruments and following blueprint lines and index points
  • Cut, trim, file, bend, and smooth parts, and verify sizes and fitting tolerances in order to ensure proper fit and clearance
  • Read and interpret blueprints, illustrations, and specifications to determine layouts, sequences of operations, or identities and relationships of parts
  • Perform quality work checks to insure the product meets quality standards
  • Identify defects and take appropriate measures communicate and follow established non-conformance procedures
  • Rework and/or repair assembled parts and products according to engineering specification changes
  • Perform all work in accordance with highest quality standards and safety procedures
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
Skills / Requirements
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of documents published in the BMS Library
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 1-2 years mechanical assembly experience
  • Specific technical or vocational training or certification may be required; required to pass a mechanical aptitude test
  • Basic reading skills
  • Must be able to follow directions
  • Basic computer navigation and utilization skills
  • Ability to perform work accurately, timely and thoroughly
  • Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem, with thinking in such a way as to produce a new idea and concepts
  • Detailed-oriented and self-motivation skills
  • Must be able to speak/read/write English
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs
