Overview

Mechanical Assembler responsible for producing and assembling machine(s) and machine parts according to specifications. The role supports the JOA mission of providing creative, reliable solutions for customers.

Responsibilities

• Read and follow entry-level blueprints, shop orders, and specifications to build and assemble parts and equipment accurately and timely.
• Measure parts using scales, micrometers, and calipers.
• Use overhead cranes and rigging procedures for material handling.
• Operate material handling equipment to move parts and components.
• Prepare parts for painting and maintain a clean work area.
• Participate in department cleanup and improvement projects.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and metric system conversions.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and manufacturing instructions.
• Knowledge and use of hand and machine tools such as drill press, band saw, cut‑off saw, and grinder.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience reading CAD documents.
• Familiarity with material handling equipment.
• Basic knowledge of carpentry, electrical, and pneumatics.
• Willingness to travel internationally and domestically.

Physical Requirements

• Required protective clothing: safety glasses, ear protection, gloves, safety shoes.
• Occasional tasks may involve sitting, climbing, balancing, reaching above shoulders, and operating machinery.
• Physical demands may include stooping, standing, and moving heavy parts.
