Apex Water and Process in Chanhassen, MN is seeking a Mechanical Assembler to work hands-on with custom water treatment equipment, using drawings and P&IDs to install piping, pumps, valves, sensors and other components.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
• Six months of experience installing mechanical components and piping.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a can-do attitude.
• Effective communication with customers, vendors and colleagues.
• Ability to lift and move 50 pounds unassisted.
• Willing to cross-train as needed.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), General Arrangement (GA) Drawings, and Production Prints
• Install mechanical components (pumps, valves, sensors, etc.) per design
• Install mechanical piping (PVC, CPVC, PE, PVDF, PFA, etc.) to/from components on a skid or process tool per design
• Assist with factory acceptance testing of equipment
• Clean and maintain work areas
• Crosstrain and assist with training others, as required
• Adhere to and support safety policies and guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned

Job Summary

The Mechanical Assembler will work hands-on with a variety of custom water treatment, process, and specialty equipment designed and built for our customers. They will use technical drawings and P&IDs to install piping, pumps, valves, sensors, and other mechanical components, gaining exposure to complete equipment builds from assembly through testing. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, and building something different from project to project. The Mechanical Assembler will develop valuable technical skills while working alongside an experienced team, with opportunities for cross-training and career growth as time goes on.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Read and interpret Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), General Arrangement (GA) Drawings, and Production Prints
• Install mechanical components (i.e. pumps, valves, sensors, etc.) per design
• Install mechanical piping (may consist of PVC, CPVC, PE, PVDF, PFA, etc.) to and from various components on a skid or within a process tool per design
• Assist with factory acceptance testing of equipment
• Clean and maintain work areas
• Work hours necessary to support Company demand
• Crosstrain and assist with training others, as required
• Adhere to and support all safety policies and guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings
• Six (6) months of experience installing mechanical components and piping or related experience
• Exceptional work ethic, 'can-do' attitude and team player
• Ability and willingness to learn, understand and support Apex's quality objectives
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and colleagues
• Ability to work independently with minimal instruction/supervision and effectively plan, organize and execute own activities
• Ability to lift and move 50 pounds of material unassisted
• Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work well under pressure and within changing environments
• Ability and willingness to wear personal protective equipment necessary for job duties performed
• Willing to crosstrain as needed

Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated pay range for this position is between $22 - $26/hr, depending on qualifications and experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, and paid time off.
