Job summary

The Honolulu Advertiser is seeking a Maintenance Technician to ensure continuous production by keeping machinery and equipment in good working order. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and support production teams to minimize downtime.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, solid mechanical aptitude, and the ability to read diagrams and instructions. Welding certification and a valid driver's license are preferred; prior manufacturing experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Strong mechanical skills and aptitude.
• Must pass a Mechanical Skills Certification Test, and Welding Exam.
• Twelve (12) months of related experience in a manufacturing facility preferred.
• Must Have a Valid Drivers License

Responsibilities

• Maintains operation of machinery by completing preventive maintenance on engines, motors, production machines; following manuals; troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Locates sources of problems by observing devices in operation and using precision measuring tools.
• Removes defective parts by dismantling devices with hoists, cranes, and hand tools.
• Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts with calipers and micrometers.
• Adjusts functional parts by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
• Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
• Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
• Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
• Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
• Maintains technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, and networking.
• Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting actions and continuing needs.
• Maintains safe and clean environment by complying with procedures and regulations.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Assist with improved quality and efficiencies in the Maintenance Department.

• Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
• Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
