Job Summary

Perform maintenance and repair of various types of flatbed trailers in Company shops, on public roadways, jobsites, and customer’s yards as necessary. Maximize equipment availability using efficient and proactive preventative maintenance programs.

Job Responsibilities
  • Diagnose air brake, air ride and lighting issues and perform mechanical repairs and maintenance to various types of trailers including but not limited to aluminum and steel trailers, dock height and drop deck.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance services and DOT’s and fill out accompanying paperwork.
  • Perform routine brake inspections/adjustments on commercial vehicles following Federal DOT requirements.
  • Create work orders on repairs and services providing legible and accurate information for work performed.
  • Input daily repair reports into software-based tracking program. SAP.
  • Communicate with drivers and plant managers to ensure adherence to preventative vehicle maintenance policies and practices.
  • Use a wide variety of hand and power tools, cutting torches and welding equipment.
  • Drive Company service truck to perform road calls, mobile maintenance.
  • Operate fixed and mobile equipment as necessary.
  • May assist in the maintenance and repair of fixed equipment.
  • Comply with all Safety, Health, Environmental and other Company policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years related experience, training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Mechanical Experience.
  • Must have own tools up to 1 ¼”.
  • CDL Class A a plus but not required.
  • ASE certifications a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Able to understand, interpret, communicate and execute with exactness instructions given in both verbal and written form.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish a plus.
Working Conditions
  • Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors.
  • Must wear protective equipment while at the location.
  • No smoking or tobacco use of any kind on premises.
  • No cell phone use while working.
Physical Requirements
  • Walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree.
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors.
  • Exerting 50 - 100 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Exerting 25 – 50 pounds of force frequently.
  • Exerting 10 – 20 pounds of force continually.
  • Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls.
  • Must pass physical to include back x-ray, hearing test and drug/alcohol screen.
  • Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors.
  • Must wear protective equipment while on the job.
