Job summary

Transport Refrigeration of SD is seeking a Trailer Refrigeration Mechanic to maintain trailers and install/refer units. The role includes diagnosing refrigeration systems, servicing trailers per work orders, and completing required paperwork.

You’ll work on an on-call schedule and must pass post-offer physicals and a drug screen. Qualified candidates have trailer/diesel/heavy equipment repair experience, knowledge of reefer systems, and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of trailer electrical, suspension, structural systems.
• Experience as a trailer, diesel, or heavy-equipment mechanic.
• Transportation refrigeration (reefer) system knowledge and diagnostic experience preferred.
• 608 certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Valid Driver’s License and a satisfactory MVR.
• Ability to pass post-offer physical and drug screen.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Services and repairs different areas of a trailer including the brakes, lights, seals, and other general maintenance items as work order indicates.
• Installs new refrigeration units in a timely and proficient manner
• Inspect, diagnose and troubleshoot refrigeration systems to identify malfunctions and determine repairs
• Inspects trailers for defects according to Department of Transportation specifications.
• Complete all required documentation on inbound and outbound documents. Processes final paperwork such as PM sheet, annual inspection sheet, PD sheet and end of job report.
• Employees are included on an on-call Service Call schedule
• Other duties and tasks as required by supervisor

The Trailer / Refrigeration Mechanic is responsible for the repair and maintenance of trailers and installing and repairing new and used refrigeration units onto trailers.
