Job summary

VCNA Prairie, part of Votorantim Cimentos North America, is seeking a skilled maintenance technician for our Michigan facility. The role involves diagnosing defects in heavy equipment, repairing and maintaining mixer trucks, and performing preventive maintenance to ensure safety and efficiency.

A CDL with airbrake is required, along with 5–7 years of relevant experience. You will work on engines, hydraulics, braking systems, driveline, steering, and electrical components, with opportunities for

Responsibilities

  • Operate and inspect equipment to diagnose defects.
  • Dismantle and reassemble trucks and equipment for access to problems.
  • Repair, replace, clean and lubricate parts as needed.
  • Diagnose electrical and hydraulic issues and test repaired equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and record keeping.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operating and inspecting equipment to diagnose defects
  • Visually inspecting and listening to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions
  • Dismantling and reassembling trucks, machines, and equipment to gain access to problem area
  • Examining parts for damage or excessive wear and determining re-usability
  • Repairing, replacing, cleaning, and lubricating parts as necessary
  • Repairing malfunctioning hydraulic components
  • Diagnosing and correcting electrical problems
  • Replacing malfunctioning subassemblies and components (e.g., transmissions, clutches, differentials, engines, etc.)
  • Welding, cutting, and fabricating of all equipment and components
  • Changing oil, checking and changing batteries, and performing complete lubrication tasks on equipment and machinery
  • Changing tires and repairing tires and tubes
  • Testing repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency
  • Performing preventive maintenance
  • Making recommendations for equipment to be repaired by outside sources
  • Requisitioning parts and equipment
  • Record keeping and reporting
  • Providing general housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe facility
Qualifications
  • CDL-A or CDL-B with Airbrake endorsement
  • 5-7 years experience
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment & mixer trucks
  • Knowledge of engines
  • Knowledge of hydraulics
  • Knowledge of braking systems
  • Knowledge of driveline to include clutch, flywheel, transmissions, and differentials
  • Knowledge of steering mechanisms and suspensions
  • Knowledge of electrical systems
