Job summary

Crane Company is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to safeguard the operation of our facility's infrastructure and equipment, targeting no unplanned downtime.

You will monitor and troubleshoot building systems, assist senior technicians, perform preventive maintenance, and support on-call and overtime work as needed. Strong teamwork and safety focus are essential to meet customer commitments.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • 1 year of facilities preventive maintenance experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude for building systems.
  • Commercial/industrial building maintenance preferred.
  • Able to work with teams and independently.
  • Off shift periodically; on-call roughly 1 week per month; overtime as needed.
  • Willingness to learn other trades.
  • Capable of continuous physical labor.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot facilities operations.
  • Monitor building utility systems and equipment.
  • Assist senior technicians on projects and daily tasks.
  • Perform general labor and preventive maintenance.
  • Recommend spare parts to prevent downtime.
  • Participate in all aspects of facilities maintenance.
  • Monitor contractors to ensure EHS policy compliance.

This is a position in the Facilities Maintenance organization with responsibility for ensuring that the facilities infrastructure and building operations equipment continue to operate in a safe and effective manner while moving towards the goal of "no unplanned downtime" of the Reuter Stokes facility.

As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining/troubleshooting and solving technical issues and opportunities pertaining to facilities operations.
  • Monitoring the condition of the building's utility systems and the general operation of facilities equipment.
  • Assisting senior technicians with their projects and day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Performing general labor throughout the facility.
  • Performing preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Recommending spare parts to keep on hand if not available could potentially impact our customers’ ability to meet their commitments.
  • Being willing to participate in any aspect/component of facilities maintenance.
  • Assisting in the monitoring of services provided by outside contractors ensuring EHS policies are followed.

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

  • High school diploma.
  • 1-year experience in facilities preventative maintenance ideally in electrical, HVAC, construction and/or plumbing.
  • Mechanical aptitude in and out of work.
  • Commercial/industrial building maintenance experience, preferred.
  • Ability to effectively work with a variety of teams within the facility as well as independently.
  • Off shift periodically, be on call roughly 1 week/month. Also willing to work overtime, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • AA/AS degree in a technical field.
  • Certified with Facilities Maintenance.
  • Knowledge of at least one of the building codes such as the NEC, UBC, NFC, and UPC.
  • Knowledge of multiple aspects of facilities such as boilers, chillers, refrigeration equipment, pumps, plumbing, construction, painting, electrical switchgear, generators along with the operation of natural and propane gas systems.
  • Demonstrated abilities of analytical troubleshooting of mechanical & electrical problems.
  • Willing to work as an apprentice technician to senior tradesman (Millwright).
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Customer orientated mindset.
  • Proactive work ethics, creativity, energy.
  • Welding, machining, carpentry, & plumbing skills required.
  • General knowledge of most power and hand tools.
