Job summary

Coca-Cola Consolidated in Charlotte, NC, is hiring for a Mechanic Manufacturing II on the 3rd shift (10pm–6:30am) with weekends/holidays as needed. The role repairs and maintains all production assets, responds to breakdowns, and implements planned and unplanned work to keep the line running.

Candidates should have 3–5 years of maintenance experience or technical training, PLC experience, and the ability to read schematics.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read SOPs or instructions.
  • Strong computer skills for equipment control.
  • Ability to multi-task in a production setting.
  • Capable of monitoring speeds, temperatures, and liquids.
  • Troubleshoot complex process issues.
  • Make mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic adjustments.
  • Read electrical prints/blueprints preferred.
  • Initiative to advance technical expertise.
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on motors, tools, conveyors, and production machines; follow manuals and specs; troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Locate problems by observing devices; use testing instruments for diagnosis.
  • Complete PMs and maintain work orders, parts usage, and inventory.
  • Inform production of maintenance plans to minimize downtime and keep line running.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Overview

The Mechanic Manufacturing II is responsible for repairing and maintaining all assets in the production facility. This position responds promptly to equipment breakdowns and repairs the machinery in a timely manner and performs planned and unscheduled work, as necessary. The Mechanic Manufacturing II also maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results; maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies. This position is also responsible for making design improvements and process changes to improve overall production efficiencies.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems, using precision measuring, and testing instruments
  • Monitors and maintains multiple pieces of equipment by correctly completing assigned PMs, performing corrective maintenance work orders, filling out all paperwork, work orders, parts usage, and order forms
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance, and assisting production as needed to keep the line running at top efficiency
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge acquired through 3 to up to 5 years of work experience or 2 years of college or technical training in a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge with preferred 2 plus years experience in plant maintenance and high-speed production equipment, and, or certification of technical schooling in this area
