Job description

St. Charles Community College (SCC) is seeking a Full time Mechanic/Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance and repair of electrically powered, gasoline and diesel-powered equipment, machines and vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Performs tune-ups, lubrication, oil and filter changes, adjust or changes belts and hoses on all vehicles.
• Repairs a variety of problems including electrical systems, brakes, carburetors, engine and engine compression, clutch, transmission, injectors, differentials, pumps, muffler, hydraulic and power take-off operations.
• Sharpens or replaces blades on grounds equipment.
• Repairs all grounds equipment including snowplow equipment.
• Knowledge of welding and fabrication is required.
• Performs preventive maintenance of vehicles, carts, and equipment.
• Performs inventory and requisition parts as required.
• Tracks repairs and maintenance.
• Assists with general maintenance.
• Assists with general grounds work.
• Operation of campus vehicles as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum Two years experience in vehicle repair and maintenance with 1 year of small engine repair.
• Must be able to troubleshoot, repair, replace, and install equipment from blueprints and schematics.
• Must be able to use hand tools, pneumatic tools, computer with excel or other database software, testing equipment, tire tools, press welders, and sanders.
• Valid Class A, B, C, or E Driver's License required.
