Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Mechanic in Jackson, MS to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on water treatment plants and related facilities equipment on an assigned shift.

You’ll travel to client sites, document maintenance activities, and work with a safety-focused team to keep municipal systems running reliably. CMMS proficiency and CMRT certification (or the ability to obtain within 3 years) are required.

Qualifications

  • One year of maintenance experience in water treatment plants or related equipment.
  • CMRT certification or ability to obtain within 3 years of hire.
  • Proficiency in the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on water treatment plants and related equipment.
  • Lubricate equipment, replace packing in pumps or valves, and inspect for malfunctions.
  • Perform plumbing, welding, and painting tasks as required.
  • Keep maintenance records and ensure safety for all team members.
  • Travel to client sites for on-site maintenance (valid driver's license required).

As a Mechanic, you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services – uninterrupted. Based in Jackson, MS, you’ll have the opportunity to perform a variety of tasks in the preventive and corrective maintenance on water treatment plants and related facilities equipment on an assigned shift. You’ll contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to challenges that may arise in municipal facilities. You’ll perform preventive and corrective maintenance on buildings, structures, grounds, machinery and equipment; lubricate equipment and check for malfunctions; replace packing in pumps or valves; replace bearings in motors, pumps, and other equipment; tune engines, set valve clearance, clean, and adjust regulators; examine equipment failures to identify cause and to prevent recurrences; and install and sets up new equipment. You’ll also clean and paint interior and exterior equipment and buildings; lean out pipes and perform other plumbing and pipe fitting tasks as required; use gas and/or arc welding equipment to heat, cut, braze, or weld; perform duties of painter in their absence; assist in keeping maintenance records; and perform other duties as required. Most importantly, you’lltake actionto ensure the safety, health and well-being of you and your team.

As an essential function of the position and as a business necessity, this role requires regular travel by motor vehicle to client sites, project locations, and other work-related destinations in connection with the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities. Accordingly, a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position.

Here’s what you'll need
  • One year of experience in the maintenance of water treatment plants and related equipment, or similar maintenance experience
  • A valid Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT) certification or ability to obtain within 3 years of date of hire
  • Proficiency in the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)

  • Experience in serving municipal utility client

The base salary range for this position is $42,400.00 to $60,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
