Job summary

GCC is a world-class company that produces, distributes and markets cement, ready-mixed concrete, aggregates and related construction products in the United States and Mexico. GCC seeks an underground mining maintenance technician to perform electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic repairs on equipment, ensure MSHA compliance, and complete preventive maintenance and records.

You will read blueprints, follow manuals, and work in a safety-focused environment with a strong emphasis on regulatory

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-year technical degree in electrical or related field preferred.
• Must have current MSHA electrical certification (high, medium and low voltage, underground).
• Minimum 1 year of underground mining experience.
• Knowledge of State and Federal mining regulations for underground mining including electrical permissibility.
• Demonstrated welding and fabrication skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot from blueprints and service manuals; experience reading Electrical Schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical, mechanical and hydraulic maintenance and repair work on underground mining equipment.
• Repair underground mining equipment (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic).
• Maintain underground equipment in permissible MSHA conditions.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and complete reports and records as required.
• Read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams and follow manuals to set up and perform tasks.
• Conduct all work activities in compliance with federal and state coal mining laws and company policies.

What you will do

Perform electrical, mechanical and hydraulic maintenance and repair work on all equipment associated with an underground coal mine.

• Perform electrical, mechanical and hydraulic repairs of underground mining equipment.
• Maintain underground equipment in permissible conditions as defined by MSHA.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and complete reports and records as required.
• Perform other, non-maintenance tasks as assigned.
• Read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams and follow maintenance manuals and parts books to set up and perform tasks.
• Conduct all work activities in compliance with Federal and State coal mining laws and Company policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

Experience & abilities you will need

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 2-year technical degree in electrical or comparable experience preferred.
• Must have current MSHA electrical certification. (High, medium, and low voltage, underground)
• Must have one (1) year of underground mining experience.
• Must be knowledgeable of State and Federal mining regulations pertaining to underground mining including electrical permissibility.
• Must have demonstrated welding and fabrication skills.
• Must have demonstrated operating, repairing, and troubleshooting skills on section and outby equipment. (Continuous miners, battery haulage equipment, feeders, scoops, roof bolters, etc.)
• Must be able to troubleshoot from blueprints and service manuals.
• Experience reading Electrical Schematics
