Job summary

Falcon Drilling Company is seeking a Mechanic 2 to inspect, maintain, and field-repair rig mechanical equipment including engines, air systems, mud systems, and pneumatic drives at our Indiana, PA sites. You will follow shop foreman direction, perform tests, prepare requisitions, keep records, and adhere to safety policies while supporting rigs in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with and follows the Shop Foreman to repair mechanical systems and components of engines, generators, motors, air compressors, air boosters, and mud systems on rig locations.
  • Tests ECM functions using computerized test equipment.
  • Works with Rig Managers to prepare requisitions for repair supplies as needed.
  • Prepares and submits daily paperwork of work activities to the Shop Foreman, Asset Manager and Asset Data Clerk.
  • Maintains all records and documentation of equipment repairs.
  • Adheres to company policies, safe work practices and lock-out/tag-out requirements.
  • Conducts safety inspections of all major equipment and performs repairs, adjustments and calibrations as required.
  • Conducts routine inspections of rig-related equipment to identify potential problems.

Summary

The Mechanic 2 position is responsible for the inspection, maintenance and field repair of all rig related mechanical equipment, including engines, air compressors, air boosters, mud systems, mechanical drive systems, and pneumatic systems, as well as maintain all mechanical equipment in accordance with planned maintenance system and to manufacturers’ specifications at the Rig sites.

Job Responsibilities
  • Communicates with and follows the direction of the Shop Foreman to complete the repair of the mechanical systems and components of engines, generators, motors, air compressors, air boosters, and mud systems on rig locations.

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of basic diesel engine functions, computerized diagnostic systems, hydraulic system functions, and pneumatic system functions.
  • Ability to read and comprehend hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and hydraulic driven draw works systems.
  • General knowledge of safety and environmental regulations/requirements.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organizations
Qualifications
  • Must possess a Valid Driver’s License and meet the requirements of the Falcon Drilling Motor Vehicle Policy
  • High school diploma or recognized equivalent
  • 2+ years of oilfield mechanical experience including experience with engine diagnostics.
  • 2+ years of experience with operation and maintenance of air compressors and air boosters is required
Work Conditions & Physical Demands
  • Ability to perform work outside with prolonged exposure to the environment, both hot and cold. Operations could also involve prolonged exposure to wet or damp conditions i.e., working in rain, snow and sleet.
  • Rotating shifts/days worked based on shop and field needs.
  • Vigorous manual labor required
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment up to 80 pounds frequently
  • Long periods of standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching or similar activities may be necessary in tight spaces as well as elevated heights.
