Pitt County Government seeks a qualified mechanic to maintain and repair vehicles for the Solid Waste Department, General Fund, EMS, and Emergency Management fleets. Under limited supervision, performs skilled mechanical work in the routine maintenance and repair of vehicles owned by the Solid Waste Department, the County's General Fund, and/or Emergency Management and Emergency Medical fleet. Employee is responsible for routine servicing of both diesel and gasoline engines. If applicable, employee is responsible for moving and allocating fleet resources to ensure adequate availability across the General Fund and EMS system of required vehicles. Must be available to advise and diagnosis County departments on maintenance/repair issue with General Fund fleet. Reports to the Sanitation Mechanic Supervisor or the Fleet Manager.
Performs other related work as assigned.
Graduation from high school supplemented by formal training in mechanical or related trades, and 4 years of experience as a mechanic including experience in the maintenance of diesel and gasoline powered engines; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
