Job summary

Lamb Weston is seeking a Mechanic I Processing to monitor and maintain processing equipment at our Warden, WA facility. You will perform routine preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and support operations to keep lines running and meet customer demands.

The role requires ability to interpret instructions in English, manage welds, belts, pulleys, motors, and to document work in SAP/CMMS. Candidates should have a high school diploma and relevant certifications; safety training and forklift

Job Description Summary

This role monitors the function of the processing equipment to ensure proper operation of equipment, allowing continuous line flow and processing to meet customer demands. This position has the responsibility of performing routine preventative maintenance as well as performing unplanned repairs while supporting operations.

Job Description

The Processing Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and process equipment throughout the facility to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. Performs maintenance work, repair, and adjustment of equipment; changes and replaces belts, pulleys, sprockets, bearings, chains, motors, and general maintenance on other specialty equipment specific to processing. This position performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, conducts scheduled equipment inspections, identifies and documents equipment deficiencies, and works collaboratively with operations personnel to minimize downtime while maintaining the highest standards of safety, food quality, and workmanship The Maintenance Mechanic diagnoses mechanical problems, repairs rotating equipment, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, performs welding and fabrication, installs new equipment, and participates in continuous improvement projects. This position is also responsible for completing assigned preventive maintenance inspections, accurately documenting inspection findings, creating and updating SAP maintenance notifications and work orders, recording corrective actions, and ensuring maintenance records are complete, accurate, and timely. Successful candidates are dependable, safety-focused, and committed to producing high-quality repairs and inspections that improve equipment reliability and plant performance. Expected to identify opportunities for improvement, communicate effectively with operations and maintenance personnel, maintain accurate maintenance documentation within SAP, follow all company policies, food safety requirements, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, equipment reliability, and operational excellence. Performs and documents line checks and preventative maintenance, including lubrication and inspection of equipment to prevent or identify failures. Understands and can explain the purpose and operation of all equipment in the processing area and makes decisions on appropriate troubleshooting and repair of equipment as situations warrant. Performs structurally sound welds using appropriate equipment as needed. Updates CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) with status and details of work order results daily. Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

Education/ Certifications: (Required & Preferred) High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred. Lock-out/Tag-out, Forklift, and Sanitation certification are required. If you are not qualified, you will be trained and must meet certification requirements. Skills and Experience: Experience performing maintenance in a manufacturing environment, specifically food processing highly preferred. Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing. Ability to understand instructions and follow directions in English, both written and oral. (Requirement may vary by location). Ability to perform basic math functions, required Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Applicability of job levels varies by location and is determined by the plant skills matrix.

Physical Environment/Demands

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently. Exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature Exposure to manufacturing environments to include: loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, smells and allergies. Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for job actions and procedures. Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment. Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work related equipment Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Valid Driver’s License and driving record that meets Lamb Weston Driving Standards Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Freezer Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Plant Operation. Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders on a regular basis.
