Job summary

U.S. Silica in West Columbia, SC, is seeking a Mechanic I to support maintenance operations, performing mechanical, electrical, and structural repairs.

You will lead complex repairs, diagnose root causes, and collaborate with engineering and planning teams to ensure safe and efficient plant operation. You will provide technical expertise during shutdowns and capital projects, ensuring safety and quality standards are met while adapting to a fast-paced environment and rotating on-call schedule

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 7–10 years of mechanical maintenance experience.
• Expert knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
• Strong leadership and project management skills.
• Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience preferred.
• Welding and machining certifications preferred.
• High level of safety and quality awareness.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work outdoors in all seasons.
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work from elevated platforms.
• Ability to use hand tools such as shovels, hammers, and wrenches.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work the required schedule. Primary schedule is 6 AM - 2 PM with rotating on-calls for nights and weekends.

Job Description

The Mechanic I supports maintenance operations by performing mechanical, electrical, and structural repairs. Assists mechanics, electricians, and mobile technicians in maintaining plant machinery, equipment, and facilities to meet production needs in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner.
