Job summary

Baptist Health System is seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to uphold the reliable operation of hospital buildings, equipment, and critical systems. You will perform preventative maintenance, document work, and support on-call coverage as needed.

The role requires a High School diploma, trade school in mechanical/electrical/air conditioning, and EPA Refrigerant Recovery Certification, with 5–7 years of relevant experience in hospital or industrial environments.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Trade school in mechanical, electrical, or air conditioning preferred.
• 5 years hospital maintenance experience or 7 years similar industrial experience required.
• 10 years hospital experience preferred.
• EPA Refrigerant Recovery Certification required; refrigeration/air conditioning training beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on hospital facilities, equipment and building systems.
• Maintain refrigerators, ice machines, boilers, chillers, and related plant equipment.
• Log all work performed in logs and work orders; document Freon amounts where applicable.
• Assist in on-call responsibilities and shift coverage as needed.
• Ensure a safe, clean, and compliant maintenance environment; participate in performance improvement activities.

Job Summary

This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus. Responsible for the maintenance, repairs and preventative maintenance of the Hospital buildings, equipment and physical plant. Does the preventative maintenance of all refrigerators and ice machines. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

General Functions: Performs maintenance on all refrigerated items and keeps a log book pertaining all services done including Freon amounts

Department/Business Unit Functions: Performs preventative maintenance on many types of hospital equipment and a variety of heating and air conditioning equipment Replaces light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, switches, plugs, receptacles, ballast, and makes repairs on faucets, commodes, and other duties as needed Performs preventative maintenance on all refrigerators, warmers, heating and cooling systems. Assumes all responsibility for checking and maintaining and making repairs on: Refrigerators, ice machines, coolers, freezers, boilers, chillers, vacuum pumps, Medical Air Compressors and all associated plant equipment Runs errands Assists in moving furniture, boxes and heavy objects Documents all work performed on appropriate logs and work orders Works shifts as assigned Assumes on – call responsibilities as necessary based on facility’s schedule Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively Maintains safe environment Participates in Performance Improvement activities

PREFERRED EDUCATION: Trade School in mechanical, electrical, or air conditioning
