Roy Jorgensen Associates, Inc. is seeking a full-time Mechanic Helper to support our Grand Prairie fleet in Texas. The role involves performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks on light and heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and related equipment, while following safety procedures and company policies.

Applicants must provide basic mechanic tools and have at least 1 year of repair experience; EPA/K license optional. CDL preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of repair and maintenance experience on automotive or mechanical equipment or equivalent vocational training.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate hand/power tools safely.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and routine repairs on light/heavy-duty trucks, trailers, mowers, and related equipment.
• Assist senior mechanics with diagnostics, repairs and inspections.
• Support field repairs during weather events and maintain a clean, organized shop.
• Document work and track parts using fleet systems and apps.

Position Summary

Roy Jorgensen Associates, Inc. is currently seeking full-time Mechanic Helper will be supporting fleet in Grand Prairie, Texas. This position requires performing a variety of tasks related to vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair and adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Jorgensen Company policies and procedures. Employee must be able to provide their own set of basic mechanic’s tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and routine repairs on light/heavy-duty trucks, trailers, mowers, attenuators, and related highway equipment
• Assist senior mechanics with diagnostics, repairs, and inspections
• Support field repairs, including during weather events
• Keep the shop clean, organized, and safe, and use required PPE
• Document work and track parts using smart phone apps and fleet systems
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies
• Road Service Support

Required Experience

• 1+ year of repair and maintenance experience on automotive or mechanical equipment, or equivalent vocational training

Preferred Experience

• Vocational training, technical certificate, or ASE certification
• EPA 609 license preferred not required.
• CDL Preferred, not required
• Diesel or heavy equipment experience
• Small Engine, sanders (spreaders) and plows
• Knowledge in hydraulic systems
• Knowledge in Electrical systems
• A/C systems
• Welding and Torch

Clean driving record is essential. Must pass criminal background check.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Maintain company standards for background checks (i.e. criminal record, driving record and controlled substance/drug testing
• Valid driver's license
• Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
• Carry out simple arithmetic functions
• Maintain proper safety equipment required for each job
• Knowledge and ability to adapt to the latest technology
• Ability to use smart phone and applications
• Ability to adjust to changing work schedule
• Ability to work safely under ranging environmental and weather conditions
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
• Ability to operate hand/power tools
• Must exhibit a high level of safety consciousness and a clear understanding of equipment and safety

Schedule

Full time; Monday-Friday and on-call. Must be flexible and able to work during weather events.
