Job summary

Loomis is seeking a Fleet Operations/ Maintenance Assistant in Dallas, TX to support vehicle service and repairs for our fleet. The role includes testing, transferring, and delivering parts with automatic vehicles, ordering parts, and keeping the work area clean.

Minimum two years in light repair or trade school background; valid license and ability to operate automatic and manual transmissions required. Teamwork and English communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license for at least 3 years and able to drive both automatic and standard transmission vehicles from 2,000 to 50,000 lbs in size.
• Minimum of two years of experience conducting or managing light utility or truck repair and maintenance or a graduate from a reputable trade school.

Responsibilities

Job Overview:

This position is responsible for assisting with Fleet Operations and Maintenance and reports to the Branch Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist an experienced automotive mechanic service and repair of all fleet vehicles.
• Drive automatic vehicles for testing, transfer, and pick-up/delivery of parts.
• Perform inventory and order parts, supplies, as needed.
• Clean work area.

Primary Requirements :

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of lube & oil .
• Possession of valid driver’s license for at least 3 years and ability to drive both automatic and standard transmission vehicles from 2,000 to 50,000 lbs . in size.
• Minimum of two years of experience conducting or managing light utility or truck repair and maintenance or a graduate from a reputable trade school.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Knowledge of fleet, automotive, or truck vehicle maintenance.
• Operational knowledge of diesel equipment and tools normally associated with the troubleshooting and repairs of gasoline and diesel truck equipment.
• Knowledge of truck electrical and air-conditioning systems.
• Knowledge of International Series medium-duty truck (Preferred) .
• Ability to read and understand technical service manuals, repair orders, labels, and gauges (in English).
• Ability to write service orders.
• Ability to communicate verbally (in English) using telephone for ordering parts and supplies.
• Computer usage and basic data entry .
• Strong communication and teamwork skills .

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed in a semi- enclosed structure and outdoors. The environment involves chemical handling, gasoline/diesel fumes, and intermittent high noise exposure .
• Exposed to wet and dry conditions in extreme heat and/or cold.
• Full -time schedule consists of an average of 40 hours per week for a 5-day period.
