Job summary

CommonSpirit Health's St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, CO seeks a Mechanic Engineer to operate and maintain stationary engines, boilers, chillers, pumps, and related systems ensuring reliable utilities for patient care.

You will interact with patients and staff, mentor junior team members, and perform diverse maintenance tasks across electrical, plumbing, and safety areas in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. required.
• Minimum two years maintaining, operating, and repairing building mechanical systems incl. boilers, chillers, pumps, AHUs, heat exchangers.
• Familiarity with medical gas systems (air, vacuum, bulk O2, nitrous oxide, nitrogen, backups).
• Strong English communication and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain hospital mechanical systems to provide lighting, heating, power, refrigeration, and climate control.
• Deliver excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and staff.
• Mentor and coach junior facilities staff.
• Perform routine maintenance including electrical work, plumbing, equipment checks, and safety testing.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

Join our Hospital team as a Mechanic Engineer. In this role you will

• Operate and maintain stationary engines, mechanical equipment, compressors, generators, and steam boilers to ensure the provision of utilities such as lighting, heating, power, refrigeration, air conditioning, and other essential services for the hospital.
• Deliver exceptional customer service when interacting with patients, visitors, and fellow staff members.
• Work independently with minimal supervision and provide mentorship and coaching to less experienced facilities staff.
• Perform general maintenance tasks, including but not limited to electrical work, plumbing, equipment maintenance, and safety testing.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. required

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of two years of experience in maintaining, operating, and repairing building mechanical systems, including boilers, liquid chillers, pumps, fans, air handling units, heat exchangers, and other related equipment.
• Familiarity with medical gas systems, including medical air pumps, medical vacuum pumps, bulk oxygen, nitrous oxide, nitrogen, and backup systems.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical degree or certificate in a facilities-related field.
• Knowledge of Building Automation Systems and Computerized Maintenance Management systems. Experience in hospital facilities or healthcare construction is a plus.
• Certification as a Stationary Engineer, Boiler Operator Class A & B, CFC, and/or Journeyman.
• City and County Stationary Engineer Certificate.

Physical Requirements

• Medium Work – occasional exertion/lifting of up to 50 lbs., frequent exertion/lifting of up to 20 lbs., constant exertion/lifting of up to 10 lbs.

Pay Range

$27.97 – $47.11 /hour
