Job summary

UPS is seeking an Automotive Technician to join our fleet maintenance team in Gainesville, GA. You will maintain a diverse fleet including delivery vehicles, heavy-duty tractors, and trailers, with diesel, gasoline, and alternative propulsion systems.

The role requires troubleshooting hydraulic brakes, electrical systems, and engine controls; shifts include 2nd or 3rd, Monday through Friday or Sunday through Thursday depending on location. Tools are required for the position.

Qualifications

  • Current documented automotive mechanical experience.
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment and scan tools.
  • Possesses full complement of personal hand tools.
  • Class A/B or A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Meets D.O.T requirements required by job assignment.
  • Bends, stoops, squats, kneels, crouches, climbs ladders and stairs, stands, walks, and turns/pivots frequently throughout workday.
  • Sits infrequently, as required, throughout duration of workday.
  • Exercises hand grasping, fine motor skills, and reaching to complete tasks.
  • Operates standard and manual transmission.
  • Operates power and pneumatic tools.

Job Summary

Seeking a reliable Automotive Technician to join our outstanding fleet maintenance team in Gainesville, Georgia . The Automotive Technician will be responsible for maintaining a diverse range of equipment, including delivery vehicles, heavy-duty on-road tractors, and trailers from various manufacturers. These vehicles’ propulsion systems include diesel, gasoline, and alternative technologies such as compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, propane, hybrid, and electrical in some locations.

Automotive Technicians must be skilled in troubleshooting and maintaining various systems, including hydraulic brakes, air brakes, electrical systems, and engine controls.

Automotive Technicians must be willing to work 2ndor 3rdshifts, including Monday through Friday, Sunday through Thursday as well as Tuesday through Saturday schedules, depending on the location’s need.Automotive Techniciansmust possess the required hand tools required to perform the applicable job assignment.

Requirements

  • Must have an active driver’s license issued by the state
  • Must be willing to work 2ndor 3rdshifts, including Monday through Friday, Sunday through Thursday as well as Tuesday through Saturday schedules, depending on the location’s need.
  • Must possess the required hand tools required to perform the applicable job assignment.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Current documented automotive mechanical experience
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment, scan tools and personal computer
  • Possesses full complement of personal hand tools
  • Class A/B or A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.
  • Dependable with ability to report to work on a regular and timely basis and complete scheduled workday on a consistent basis
  • Available to work varying shifts, additional hours and/or overtime depending on service needs
  • Wears personal protective equipment as required
  • Works in an environment with variable temperatures and humidity (climatic conditions), exposure to cleaning materials, petroleum products, dust, dirt, and noise, outside inclement weather, etc.
  • Works cooperatively in a diverse work environment
  • Communicates effectivelythrough sight, hearing, and/or otherwise, to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The starting pay for this position is $40.11 per hour. For union-represented postings, wage rates and ranges and benefit offerings are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions.

Hired applicants are eligible for weekly pay, extensive training, 401(K), defined-benefit pension plan, medical-dental and vision after waiting and or probation period, $0 healthcare premium, paid vacation, paid sick and family and medical leave time as required by law, paid holidays, discounted employee stock purchase program.
