Gravity is seeking a Mechanic 1 to support fleet maintenance on the rental ready line. This entry-level technician learns product knowledge, follows safety and quality standards, and grows through branch, region, and national procedures.

The role involves preventative maintenance, operating and testing equipment, performing routine repairs, diagnosing with senior mechanics, and entering work orders into the fleet management system.

Qualifications

• High School or GED; some college preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years old and insurable.
• Knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems; ability to read schematics.
• Owns a selection of hand and air/electric tools.
• Able to operate and test equipment like boom lifts, forklifts, generators.
• Computer skills to support fleet management system and work orders.
• Lift 50+ pounds as needed.
• Read/write/speak English; communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on Gravity-owned fleet.
• Operate and test equipment to meet quality standards.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs (oil changes, lubrication, tires).
• Diagnose rental equipment with assistance from senior mechanics.
• Enter work orders in the fleet management system.
• Keep work area clean and organized.
• Complete monthly safety trainings.
• Answer company-issued cell phone during on-call hours.

Description

The Mechanic 1 is an entry-level technician and is responsible for utilizing mechanical training to contribute to fleet maintenance operations to keep Gravity’s equipment on the rental “ready line.” The person in this role is responsible for becoming familiar with product knowledge and standards of quality within the branch and learns standard operating procedures at the local (branch), region and national level to grow their career.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Works with ethics, honesty, values, and integrity. Provides a position of professionalism to others.
• Follows a consistent schedule of performing preventative maintenance of all Gravity-owned fleet.
• Operates and tests equipment to ensure it passes Gravity quality and efficiency standards.
• Performs routine maintenance and repairs, such as oil changes, lubrication of equipment, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements and assorted services on small fleet equipment and trucks under direct supervision.
• Diagnoses rental equipment with assistance from senior mechanics.
• Performs major repairs and assorted parts replacements to maintain fleet equipment using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments under direct supervision.
• Enters work orders via fleet management system.
• Maintains work area in a clean and organized manner.
• Completes all monthly safety and equipment-related trainings.
• Answers Company-issued cell phone during on call hours, in accordance with Company and safety policies.
• Any other duty, responsibility or task as assigned by the supervisor.

Experience

• High School or GED equivalent, some college preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and able to maintain insurability with Company insurance.
• Some knowledge in electrical and hydraulic systems and willingness to learn to read schematics.
• Ownership of sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services.
• Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, portable and stationary generators, hydraulics, pumps and assorted tools and equipment.
• Computer skills to support entering information into fleet management system and open/close work orders.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds required.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English to the extent verbal and written instructions in English are understood.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, and management.
